Definition of a College Preparatory School

A College preparatory school is one whose primary mission is to provide an education that willprepare its students for college-level work. The school may serve any series of grades within the pre-kindergarten through high school continuum; however, at all levels the school program must reflect the school's specialized mission.

This definition of a college preparatory school is not applicable to non-public schools whose purpose is to serve a broader, more general range of students without selection as to their capability for college preparatory work nor are these standards applicable to free-standing elementary schools.
